Caroline's Picks For A Spa-Worthy Bathroom

This time of year, with the shorter days, it feels right to up the self care, take more evening baths and spend extra time nourishing my skin. I’m always trying new products, but there are some that I just can’t let go of. There are also things that make my bathroom feel more like a sanctuary, so I thought I’d share with you what I’m currently using to feel pampered during this chilly January in Upstate New York.

I’m obsessed with the architectural and unique Molecule and Milk candles. I light them before taking a bath to wind down in the evenings, plus they are beautiful to look at too. And with Valentine’s Day coming up, these Cupid + Love Matches are fun to have on hand. To keep my everyday jewelry all in one place, I use this handcrafted gold rim jewelry dish. It’s simple and elegant and gives my bits and bobs a special home when I’m not wearing them.

To keep my face feeling clean, but not striped of its natural oils, I use the Haoma Cleansing Balm - a blend of CBD, shea butter and rosa centifolia. It starts out as a gel then becomes a rich balm when massaged into the skin, lifting out impurities while hydrating, calming inflammation and improving elasticity. For everyday hand washing, I love the Mater Hand + Body Soap. It's made from 100% organic and sustainably harvested plant-based ingredients, and the holy variety scent is divine. I buy the bulk Refill Bottle and fill up my glass dispenser from that. It's a small thing that plays a part in reducing packaging waste.

When the air gets dry during the winter months, my skin inevitably suffers. To keep it moisturized and in balance, there are a few favorite skincare products that I use on repeat. The Superlative Body Balm is my go-to when I need to ease achy muscles and all over tension, plus moisturize my skin. Infused with CBD, arnica, ginger, turmeric and boswellia, plus jojoba oil and shea butter, this cream targets inflammation and quenches dry skin.

The Aloe + Rosewater Balancing Mist is my longstanding favorite for keeping my face hydrated throughout the day, and smelling good too. And, easily my number one, fail-safe deo stick is the Eucalyptus & Bergamot Deodorant. It uses hyaluronic acid to moisturize skin and probiotics to neutralize odor, all while being baking soda free and smelling heavenly.

When I'm craving a warm soak in the tub, I pour in Susanne Kaufmann's Herbal Whey Bath. With the signature ingredient whey, it restores my skin's balance, while detoxifying and regulating its PH. To seal in moisture post-bath, I use Susanne Kaufmann's Body Oil, a heavenly blend of marigold oil, rosehip seed oil and jojoba oil. I can't get enough of the smell and use it on my hands throughout the day.

Since switching over to the Brass Safety Razor, I haven't looked back. Made with one blade, this razor allows you to shave without pressure for a smooth, irritation free shave. Plus, it's a beautiful, simple design and a great plastic-free alternative too. And to set the mood, this Bath & Meditate Bundle and incense holder are luxurious staples. The bundle features vegan soap, a variety of artisanal incense sticks and Palo Santo Wood.

Stocking up my bathroom with soft and fluffy bath towels is essential. I love these 100% Organic Cotton Towels for their incredible absorbency and they keep their plush feel wash after wash. I also keep a stack of these Bamboo Washcloths on hand. They're hypoallergenic and great for sensitive skin, naturally antimicrobial and come in a pack of four.

Adding a rug to the bathroom instantly elevates the space and gives it a cozy feel. I layered in the Montecito Rug, which has a beautiful vintage inspired design that captures the spirit of an old world rug. And to keep my feet warm and stylish, I Iove the Anna Shearling Slippers -  a chic take on a classic house slipper but are sturdy enough with their leather sole to wear outdoors too. My new go-to pjs are Mirth's handmade set in the sherbet print. Handmade in India from 100% cotton, they're soft and roomy for a perfect nights sleep.

When I'm looking to add an extra boost of moisture to my skin, especially this time of year, I turn to the Orgaid Organic Sheet Masks. This multi-pack includes three different varieties to use depending on your skin's needs or the changing seasons.

Finding those favorite things, whether it's a cream or a candle and creating rituals and intentions around them is one of life's simple pleasures. And starting and ending your day with some self care is always time well spent and worth the investment.

Sending lots of love,
